FAQ
What’s the easiest way to automatically forward texts from an iPhone?
Install Fwrd and open it. On iOS 27, its setup asks where your texts should go, then hands you a ready-made Shortcuts automation to add and switch on. On iOS 26, add a destination in Fwrd, create a Message automation in Shortcuts, add Fwrd’s Forward Message to All Destinations, and choose Run Immediately. From then on, matching texts forward on their own.
Can Fwrd send 2FA codes to a team in Slack or Microsoft Teams?
Yes. Fwrd posts each code text from the iPhone into a private channel your team already watches, through a Slack incoming webhook or a Teams Workflow you create. Give that channel a filter for verification codes in Fwrd, and only code texts go there.
Can I get texts from my home number while living abroad?
Yes. Keep your home number’s SIM in a spare iPhone that stays on and online at home, and Fwrd passes its new texts, such as bank codes, on to the phone, inbox or chat app you use abroad. After the spare iPhone restarts, someone needs to unlock it once before forwarding works again.
How much does Fwrd cost?
Fwrd is free for 15 forwards a month, and Fwrd Pro costs $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year (US prices, as of October 2026). The free plan includes 15 forwards per calendar month to any destination, with no account and no subscription. Pro removes the monthly limit, allows more than one filter condition per destination, and adds a Never Forward list of words to always skip.
Does Fwrd need an account or its own server?
No. There’s no Fwrd account to create, and Fwrd processes routing on your iPhone and does not store message contents on Fwrd servers. Texts go from the iPhone to the destinations you choose, where those services’ own privacy policies apply.
Which messages get forwarded?
Only new texts that match your Shortcuts Message automation, usually because they contain a word you chose, such as code or verification. The automation runs for messages that arrive in the Messages app, iMessages included. Each destination can then have its own filter in Fwrd, by words, verification codes or time of day; for email, another phone and WhatsApp, the send action in your shortcut goes inside an If first. Fwrd never reads your message history.
Does my iPhone need to stay on?
Yes. The iPhone that receives the texts has to stay powered on and connected to the internet, and after a restart you unlock it once before forwarding works again. Fwrd itself can stay closed: Shortcuts runs it in the background, even while the iPhone is locked, as long as the automation is set to run without asking.
Do I need a separate phone number?
No. Fwrd forwards texts that arrive on your existing number and SIM, so you don’t need a virtual number or a second line.
